ANDALUSIA | SPAIN

5 DAYS ANCIENT ANDALUCIA

A quaint traditional family owned “Eatery” established in 1970, where you have time to freshen up and drop off your luggage in their Andalusian old style, guest rooms. You will have time for lunch, and we start our introductory ride for about 2.5 hours through the pine forests of the Parque Alcornocales until we stop for sunset drinks with spectacular views over Gibraltar and Africa. The evening will be spent around the open fire with a traditional Argentinian “Asado” NIGHT: Casa Manolo, Guadiaro

After breakfast in the shaded patio, mount your steeds and set off to Montenegral Alto, crossing cattle country, and pine trees riding cross country until you reach the lunch spot, set up in an ancient ruin. There will be saddle bags with snacks for our pit stops as we pass the town of Secadero, and on to Montenegral Alto where we arrive at a monastery converted to a hotel, with old wooden furnishings, an idyllic grand pool and lounge areas. NIGHT: Monastery, Montenegral

After breakfast at the monastery we proceed towards Castellar de la Frontera,
The history of the village goes back to prehistoric times and the Bronze Age, after which the place became a medieval fortress, where we will spend the night. On the way, we will stop under cork trees, for a paella while the horses rest tied next to us, before arriving to the fortress walls. Dinner and a flamenco show will set the scene for this stunning location. Night: Castellar

Breakfast and a quick walk around the castle walls to absorb the history and hopefully see the vultures fly over the large dam of this natural protected area. We proceed to Jimena de la Frontera,
stopping at a traditional Spanish “venta” for lunch. This eatery is well established amongst riders, and
has tie rings for this purpose and water for the horses. We continue along some agricultural fields, and on to this laid back village where we will stop again for the night.
