What is it about?
Small Teams
Nyamazane offers a hands-on conservation experience in the African wilderness. Instead of just watching from a distance, participants help protect the land and its wildlife. Tracking animals on horseback, maintaining ecosystems, and assisting with anti-poaching patrols are all part of the daily routine. Experienced guides teach essential skills to navigate the terrain, understand animal behavior, and make a real impact.
Far from crowded tourist spots, this is a chance to step out of the ordinary, connect with nature, and gain a deeper understanding of conservation while pushing personal boundaries.
Requirements
Who can join?
This program is for experienced riders and adventurers ready to leave everyday comfort behind and dive into the wild. Those who want to observe nature while actively protecting it. If you love wildlife, enjoy learning, and don’t mind getting your hands dirty, this is the right place.
Ride through vast landscapes, set up camps, and take on hands-on conservation tasks that make a real impact. The days can be long and physically demanding, so a good fitness level helps. Work closely with a small team, guided by professionals, and develop new skills along the way.
No luxury, just adventure, discovery, and real change. Open to any Riders over the age of 18 who are ready for a challenge and an unforgettable experience in nature.
Remote Wilderness
Where will you sleep?
Depending on the chosen program, you will most likely spend the first and last nights in a comfortable lodge with everything you need: electricity, running water, Western-style toilets, a private chef, 3 course meals and cozy beds. A place to arrive, settle in, and prepare for the journey ahead.
Once in the wilderness, it’s back to basics. Simple tents, camps that you set up and take down yourself, and nights spent under the stars next to the horses. Every campsite is temporary, since we want to leave no trace behind. Meals are cooked by your team over an open fire. It’s raw, immersive and as close to nature as it gets.

April 4 – April 18
Eco Safari & Horse Training Experience
2 weeks
Explore South Africa’s wilderness on horseback while contributing to conservation. Spend the first week riding through diverse landscapes, setting up camps, and caring for horses. In the second week, focus on training young horses, practicing groundwork, and trail riding. The program begins and ends in a comfortable lodge, while the safari requires self-sufficient camping. Suitable for experienced riders seeking adventure and hands-on involvement in conservation. A certificate is awarded upon completion.
Activities:
• Conservation horseback safari (April 4-12)
• Riding across various farms, setting up camp, caring for horses
• Training young horses at the base (April 13-18)
• Trail riding and arena work
Please note: Must be a proficient rider. Dietary restrictions (vegetarian/gluten-free) cannot be accommodated due to remote locations.

April 25 – May 9
Conservation & Route Scouting Expedition
2 weeks
This expedition is for riders who want to explore untouched landscapes while actively supporting conservation. You will help scout and map new trails, monitor wildlife using tracking apps, and assist with habitat preservation efforts. As part of the team, you'll provide valuable data to the reserve’s management and help ensure the safety of the routes for future riders. The base camp is simple but functional, with occasional nights spent camping in remote areas. This experience is ideal for those who enjoy adventure, teamwork, and hands-on conservation work in the African wilderness.
Activities:
• Scouting new trails and conservation routes
• Reporting to reserve management using an animal tracking app
• Assisting in conservation efforts and monitoring wildlife
• Helping with habituation of new horses
• Possible camping in remote areas inaccessible by day rides
Please note: Proficient riding skills are essential.

Eco Safari & Horse Training Experience

1 Week Training
This program offers the perfect mix of adventure and hands-on horse work. Spend the first week riding through the African bush, setting up camps, and caring for horses while taking in the beauty of the landscape. In the second week, shift your focus to training young horses at the base, developing their skills for trail riding and conservation work. Days are spent between arena exercises and trail riding, working closely with the horses to prepare them for their future roles. Nights in the bush will bring you closer to nature, as you sleep near the horses and experience life under the stars.
